    1. Company have history of paying continuous dividend for 11 years except last year. Stock is recommended on the basis of future growth. If every thing was running perfect than do you think this stock will trade at 30. Company has spend 200 crores for setting up first dielectric film plant in India. It is high margin business with no competitor in India.

  10. Hi mam,
Agreed company has good product portfolio and name of birla grp bt company has not been able to generate justified return to contributors of capital also company dont have any pattern for distributing dividend oscillating between 10 and 25 also you said it has continously paid dividend bt i dont find it paying for fy14,10,09,07 & 05.....Agreed they have manageable debt and servicing it on time but the moat of the business is not there.........also u mentioned about promoters increasing its stake from open mkt but when i looked at the data from Fy 11-15 it suggested otherwise.......The new unit u mentioned has been started in may 14 only what i found from company annual report.
company previous record did nt passed any of my initial filter test to dig further but being your huge fan of stock picking decided to ignore everything and study. It would be very kind on your part mam if u can elaborate further that i am not able to see...

    Thank you.

You have to check the dividend and shareholding data on BSE official web site (http://www.bseindia.com/corporates/corporate_act.aspx?scripcode=590013&Dividend=P9&scripname=) Promoters have increased share holding from 44.86% to 49.98% in last 5 years.New unit started started in Aug - Sep 2014 but it will take time to stabilize the operation and than order processing. You can find the details in Financial Results published on 29.05.2015. It is clearly stated that new plant is capitalized on 1 march 2015.

  30. Hi mam,
It would be very kind on ur part if u could elaborate a bit on ur investment rational of nandan denim vis a vis arvind.........to my knowledge arvind has better B/S and diversed product portfolio then nandan denim.....topline n bottomline growth rate of both cos is similar over a period of time infact arvind has better operating n pat margin & on top of dat arvind retails its own brands like Flying Machine, Newport and Excalibur and licensed international brands like Arrow, Lee, Wrangler and Tommy Hilfiger, through its nationwide retail network....Arvind also runs a value retail chain, Megamart, which stocks company brands.
understanding any company from ur perspective n reaching at conclusion has always been intresting and different.

    Thank you.

Debt level is always relative comparision n debt/equity of nandan has never been less then 1 .85 since FY05 but incase of arvind it has always been less then 1 also 37% of promoter's holding has been pledged bt this factor can b ignored as long as they are manageable n able to bring the debt level lower YoY also if u analyse last 5 yr data arvinds PAT n EBIT CAGR as well margin is far superior 2 Nandan.........Agreed per capita denim consumption is under penetrated in india n nandan has lower equity base n small company so better sales cagr bt is this enough 4 an ace investor like u to commit capital or do u interact with management before taking investment decision.
Mam it would be kind on ur part if u can elaborate further as to any other x factor with this company for better understanding of amature investor like me.

    1. Net worth is the sum total of the paid up capital and free reserves after deducting the provisions and expenses. It is book value of the company.

There is no ambiguity as to term book value and how it is determined but 2 my knowledge profit of the company that is left after dividend distribution are added to existing reserve i.e security premium n past undistributed profit net of accumulated losses, deferred expenditure and miscellaneous expenditure not written off but i found otherwise in few company balance sheet that's why i asked u this question. For example if u look at the balance sheet of Gmr they earned profit 58 cr but there reserve were up by 1300 cr in Fy 11.........There are many instance of such anomaly.....can u kindly clear my doubt.
Mam no prudent investor can expect any website to declear undervalued company had this been the case then every1 wud have been making 5x or 10x.I am intrested in methodology of picking such companies from an investor who has such rich experience of over 20 yr and is willing to share it with novice investors

I would like to thank you for this wonderful blog. I follow few top investment gurus and you are one of them. I always amazed how you picked Mold Tek, Wimplast, Cera in early stage. From this blog, i understood how you are picking, how you are accumulating to 1%. I follow people like Warren Buffet to Rakesh Ji to Ashish dhawan (JB Chemicals & Green ply comes to 400 cr) holds 60% of the money in 3-4 stocks. You have the same strategy of advising few stocks.

I hope we will also hear stocks where we can hold for 10-15-20 years and create wealth.

What do you think about VLS Finance (market cap is 150 cr, but its holding in relaxo is 750 cr). I hold big chunk from market cap of 50 cr level...

  92. Hello Dollyji,

I would like to invest 1L for a long term. I am confused between skmegg and waterbase. Which one would you think would generate greater returns.
Given a time frame of 3-4 years do you can think waterbase would generate the same results as of avanti? Avanti has a capacity of 3M tonnes and waterbase now has 1 tonne. Also avanti is in plans to double its capacity. Do you think waterbase can give a fight with avanti?

    Thanks
