Management has taken timely decision to demerge the express business  to give better focus on it. Demerger of TCI Express Ltd will make it number two company in door to door courier and express cargo services business in India  after Blue Dart. Other businesses like supply chain solutions and  freight also included in the revenue of other two listed companies Blue Dart and Gati but TCI XPS is engaged purely in high margin courier and express cargo business.  There is fair possibility that within 2-3 years XPS will trade at better P/E than its peer.

XPS division accounts for 30% of the total revenue and 37% of profit of whole TCI business. If we compare TCI XPS with Blue Dart than in it is equal to 1/4 of Blue Dart in revenue and profit. TCI XPS has 60% higher equity base than Blue Dart.

Conclusion

The TCI XPS  has tremendous growth and profitability potential, more specifically in ecommerce and high consumption driven sectors. TCI XPS will unlock huge value for investors and expected EPS would be more than 10. Courier sector stocks are trading at very high P/E ( Blue Dart P/E 74 and Gati P/E 58).  Even if XPS will trade at 50 P/E than also it translate into more than 500. Remaining  business left with TCI has enough strength to sustain the  stock price after record date of demerger. Supply chain solutions and Seaways are high margin high growth business and expected to grow at decent pace in coming quarters. Clearance of GST bill will be  an added advantage for XPS and TCI. GST is not taken in consideration for above investment rationale.

TCI XPS is best long term investment opportunity for those who miss to buy Blue Dart below 100. TCI XPS is available for free of cost with every two share of Transport Corporation of India Ltd (TCI) held before record date of demerger.

  13. Hi, Thanks for suggesting TCI. When demerger happens, if I am correct, the share price of parent company goes down but compensated by free shares of new company. So net effect on share price is same. So is it not a good idea to buy TCI Express shares directly instead of buying TCI now? Thanks!!

  14. Dear Ma'am,

    Just to add on,
    1. switching cost in warehousing is extremely high. My previous employer hired DHL for warehousing and I personally worked with DHL warehouse. Even though DHL performance was extremely poor (execution + attitude), we couldnt switch. First find a new warehouse, then stop your on going business, transfer your complete inventory to new warehouse, make humongous changes in systems for new location. So once u acquire a customer, customer will b with u for 5-10 years
    2. Network effect in supply chain gives a high entry barrier for new entrants

Few years back, I happened to visit TCI warehouse in Pune, it was used by Bosch (Bosch itself is a giant)

It is Transport Corporation of India. Still there is time, can be bought at lower price during market correction.

TCI and XPS has huge potential because sooner or later GST bill will be get cleared then TCI will be the major beneficiary of it. XPS will trade above 1000 within 2-3 years due to huge scope of e-commerce business

  30. Hello Madam,

Just a thought, eCOMMERCE as of today i think is surviving on borrowed money and with global venture cap getting dry, there is lot of pressure on Indian eCOM sites like flipkart, snapdeal(laying of people), etc to start earning money... so none of the big gurus have invested in any ecom stocks, which means there is going to be consolidation and price increases on ecom sites and reduced demand etc.Point is there is lot of uncertainty on eCOM sites in India. And With that the companies who are suppliers/service providers to eCOMM companies need to adopt a new pricing or evolve or lose demand.

So I think its matter of time when eCOMMS stocks are rerated which will have direct impact to Logistics providers.

So I am skeptical about giving high valuations to logistics companies based on the rational that they are catering to eComm segment where there is huge or high demand. Since I think the huge demand is because of price wars and which i think is going to end soon.

Do suggest how this needs to be analyzed.

    Nagaraj Akkili

Considering current market price of TCI at around 300, If we consider the listing price of XPS at 300, then TCI share should trade above 150 post demerger. Looking at the drastic lowering in guidance by management for FY16, do you think the price of TCI may fall below 150 post demerger which will happen around Q4 results.

The pe of tci is around 25 and eps growth expected is 10%-15%. Even if we consider eps growth at 15% then in that case the peg value of the stock comes around 1.6 that means stock is still over valued. I am sure I am missing something here to find out its real value. Could you please let me know what I am missing here so that I can learn these things and in turn value buying techniques.

    Thanks,

What if you come to know that instead of paying divided ots being reinvested to fund the growth and decent margins.

    Would you adjust your criteria?

    1. It depends upon investor's stock holding and risk taking capacity. Stocks posted on this blog are having minimum risk and high growth potential. Dividend shows strength of the company, if company is paying the dividend from profit.

    Event Updates
Union Budget 2016‐17 ‐ DDT: Out of Turn Dividend Plays
Union Budget 2016‐17 proposed dividend distribution tax (DDT) of 10% on dividend income
exceeding Rs 1 mn on individuals and firms. As per the government, DDT uniformly applies
to all investors irrespective of their income slabs and this is perceived to distort the fairness and progressive nature of taxes. This proposal, if passed, would be applicable from 1st April 2016. In our opinion, dividend paying companies could opt to prepay their dividend timing to take advantage of this one month window. We have attempted to prepare a list of companies who could declare dividend in this time and would also provide a decent dividend yield to investors. Here, we have assumed that the company would maintain its dividend per share ratio similar to FY15. We have also taken into consideration interim dividends that have been announced. Accordingly, even on remaining dividend (if interim dividend has been announced), these stocks could provide a dividend yield of more than 5%.
