Dear Blog Members,
We have gone through and seen lot of changes in economy and in stock market during past 3 years. We have seen rise of Nifty / Sensex from 7000 / 23000 points to 11000 / 36000 respectively. Our portfolios for last 3 years have also given good return 308% for 2015, 126% for 2016 and 48% for 2017.
https://dolly-bestpicks.blogspot.com/2018/01/happy-new-year-2018.html
We have also seen very rough market conditions when Nifty / Sensex fell continuously for more than 1000 / 3000 points respectively, it has happened in Aug - Sept 2015, Jan - Feb 2106, Sept - Nov 2016 and Feb -March 2018. There was no any major market correction in 2017 and due to this reason our new blog members are very nervous during recent market correction.
Up till now total 29 stocks were suggested on the blog and two stocks had given us the opportunity to review our investment decision and future strategy. Surana Solar was due to change in government policy and Omkar Speciality Chemicals is due management issue.
I have not given open sell call for any stock because it will initiate stampede selling and it will result in continuous lower circuits. Generally I used to give very clear indication under reply to the comments so that regular blog readers can able to take the action accordingly on time with minimum or without any financial loss. In the past few months we have seen lot of readers keep on posting repeated comments without reading the past replies on Omkar Speciality and Lasa. It has created negative sentiment and stock has corrected severely. For example below comments and replies are clear enough to understand our action.
12 Feb, 2018 CMP - Omkar 45 and Lasa 155 = 200 |
24 April, 2018 CMP - Omkar 23 and Lasa 90 = 113 |
It has given good learning to us and we are going with few changes in our investment strategy. It will give very clear guide line on required action on time without any confusion to our blog members. Our prime aim is to protect and minimize the risk on our investment with fair possibility of decent gain.
Below points are basic investment guide-lines for our all blog members
1) Investment in stock market is subjected to significant risk so investors must be aware of it. I always try to suggest the stocks with strong product base and good future growth possibilities, at the price level where chances of further correction is very less. Generally every investor expect stock price correction before buying the stock but don't want any correction after purchase. The real fact is that no one knows the bottom of market so chance of further correction cannot be ruled out. Even though I have replied to several comments on Omkar but we cannot expect that every blog member will able to book the profit on time and exit on time in case of such issue. In the past we have not used stop - loss for our long investment but above situation of Omkar has given us good reason to use it to limit loss even on long-term investment.
We will use stop-loss 30% from suggested price. For example if suggested price of any stock is Rs 100 and in case if it correct below Rs 70 then need to book loss without any confusion or doubt.
2) Normal buying range will remain same + / - 10% from suggested price. For example if suggested price of any stock is Rs 100 than buy it between 110 - 90.
3) Prefer allocation 10 - 20% for each stock and book partial profit at 100% return. Keep the remaining free of cost shares for long term and reinvest principal amount again.
4) In normal condition, need to stick with investment decision for 3 years. It means that if any stock unable to give at least 100% return in 3 years than we have to sell it and reinvest it again in some other stocks. In case stock has given above 100% return than we can hold free of cost shares for further gain and reinvest principal amount again. Now it is applicable on 2015 suggested stocks but all these stocks were able to give 100% return.
5) Our expectation from every suggested stock is 300 % in 3 - 5 years. But in case of non-performing stocks we must take action in 3 years as mentioned under point 4.
6) In any case we must be able to reinvest our principal amount again in 3 years. It is not advisable to buy any non-moving stock after 3 years even though it is trading with in buying range. It means that any stock suggestion is valid only for 3 years or it got re-suggested again with modified target.
7) If you have taken the decision to become successful investor than always be happy and never regret on any decision but learn from every right or wrong decision.
Thanks mam..
ReplyDeleteVeey good stratagy
ReplyDeleteThanks again for detailed update Madam ! My portfolio is from 2017 so yes I am holding with 48% category and will wait for three years. I do understand the importance of patience with investment and now the 30% stop-loss strategy will help us further to protect the principal capital.
ReplyDeleteI have very small portfolio consists only eight of your recommendation from 2017/2018. Midcaps were corrected the most and yes as you explained shall wait and continue to read all blog members points of view which are brilliantly answered by you Madam !
Wish you all the best always.
With regards
Meenakshi Pai.
Up till now only two stocks Surana solar and Omkar had gone below 30% limit. We were able to detect the issue on time and blog members were informed under comments reply but some of the investor unable to take the action on time . There will not be any open sell call for any stock in the future also so to avoid such situation again we have gone for the option of stop loss at 30%
DeleteSuper mam and thanks for your guidance
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteDear Blog Owner. Really wonderful articulation. Pleasurable reading and valuable learning, as always. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the strategy update.Stop-loss of 30% even for long term investment is very interesting point to note. Thanks a lot Madam.
ReplyDeleteThank a lot Madam, Thanks for clarifying, while we should stick to the investment decision in general in practice I think it would make sense to change if things change. I think that would be helpful if tell us to sell if there is some change, I think that makes sense when you suggest buy the stock goes up but we also wait for a better price. Similarly if you suggest sell it could make it bad for a day or two but then we can sell when the price has normalized
ReplyDeleteYes very much applicable
DeleteWe will consider your suggestion to give sell call if stock price correction will not affect that much to investors.
DeleteIt means that if investors are able to exit with 10 to 15% correction in stock price then it is good to give sell call but if unable to exit due to continues lower circuits and left with 10% to 15% principal amount then what is the use of giving sell call.
Thank you for your consideration, Same thing happens on a buy call many times, the stock gets locked in UC and we cant buy but when you give a call the intent becomes very clear, reading through so many comments its not very clear whats the stance to take.
DeleteThanks
thanks for your care and concern dolly maam. this helps us to take timely decisions without any confusion. hope there won't be any more queries on blog suggested stocks. we all love you dolly maam. you are our goddess

ReplyDeleteHello Dolly Mam,
ReplyDeleteAbove information is very useful to built a strong portfolio.
We are always thank you for teaching us in very simple manner.
Thank you once again.
Thank you mam
ReplyDeleteThanks Mam for taking out time from your busy schedule and giving us very clear and valuable suggestions to follow while making an investment
ReplyDeleteThanks madam for careing and posting the guidelines for all the blog members. Madam is it advisable to increase the stake in Nocil as it is trading at much higher price of my buying price. Please also guide us when should we average up any stock. Thanks and best regards.
ReplyDeleteAny stock can be bought to increase the allocation with some price correction or without price correction. But it is not advisable to add the stock at that much high level where small price correction will wipe out all accumulated gains
DeleteMam ,
ReplyDeleteYour view about shiva cement ..pls

ReplyDeleteGreetings Madam,
ReplyDeleteYou always talk of some of the above-mentioned points while answering queries. But a consolidated point-wise article is very valuable and beneficial for retail investors like us. Thanks again Madam.
A few queries to which your response is awaited Madam:
1) Your views on Deepak Nitrite results. Can i increase this to 20% of my portfolio if price permits.
2) Your views on Sreeleathers if you are tracking it would be valuable
May the Lord bless you and everyone on the blog with abundance and bliss.
Thanks and Regards,
D. Viswambharan
You can add it in case of further correction near 230 but at CMP it is trading much higher than suggested price
DeleteSorry not tracking Sreelathers
Hi mam
ReplyDeleteIf any recommended stock fall below -10% we should consider as a good buy range or just wait it
Yes you can buy it with full confidence
DeleteBrilliant Guidelines Madam.
ReplyDeleteToo Good.
Madam Your Views on Deepak Nitrite Results. They seem good and management very optimistic.
Yes result is very good and future outlook of phenol is also very positive. Hopefully new plant commissioning and start commercial production within next few weeks.
DeleteThank you, Ma'am, for your clarity and timely educative advice on our future and present investments.
ReplyDeleteHello mam, thanks for very useful instructions.mam in your basic investment points point one mentioned we can use stop loss as 30% from suggested level than we can close kesoram again crossed below 104 level(Just curious about kesoram,I bought it @146 level and planning to accumulate more @ current level, whether it's good decision?? ) .mam we have to use these 30% stoploss level on closing basis or live mkt itself.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right but always need to be positive and specially point number seven is most important for investors.
Delete30% is not hard and fast rule , it means that you have to be prepared near 30% to take corrective action. It is also to avoid the stampede selling and to avoid the negativity among the other investors.
Thank you maám for sharing valuable insights about investment strategy. Regards, Amit
ReplyDeleteMam in Ganesh housing recommendations some good questions r waiting for ur valuable rply.
ReplyDeleteSure I will reply it very soon
DeleteI have not invested in any stocks you have suggested but I love to read what you write on this blog. Trying to grasp how you think about business. Hope to meet you someday.
ReplyDeleteThis business is very easy and simple
DeleteThanks a lot mam. It is great to get your timely guidance and advise from your years of experience. I have 2 request/ suggestions:
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to include companies which are paying dividend for few years.
You are reducing number of stock recommendation. Pl advise a stock every month or may be 15 in a year. ( 12+ 3 for festivals)
Thanking you,
with warm regards Deepak
Dear Maam,
DeleteI have a different opinion and feel 5 to 6 stocks are appropriate as otherwise we will be tempted to invest in all and end up putting very little or keep shifting.
This year we have reduced the number of stock because 3 - 4 stocks are trading near suggested price or below suggested price from last 2 -3 months
DeleteNext year we will see it according to the market condition
Madam I have invested 2 lakhs in AB CAPITAL if hold it for two to three years can I get 100% appreciation.
ReplyDeleteYou can keep the expectation around 20% return per year for long-term investment only
DeleteThanks for the insights Mam!🙏
ReplyDeleteYour suggestion and thoughts will boost our confidence, thank you mam
ReplyDeleteHello Mam.
ReplyDeleteWill there be incresed selling in mid and small cap stocks due to new classification guidelines by sebi for murual fund industry. If yes , how long will thw selling last. Thanks and grateful for your kind help.
Small and MidCap stocks are segregated from large cap mutual fund but several mutual funds houses are starting small cap and mid-cap fund in this month so all quantity will get absorbed again.
DeleteEven today I have got the message that SBI Small Cap Fund reopening on 16th May - Just google it for further information
Mam
ReplyDeleteYour views on orient paper & Deepak nitrite result.
Both are ready to give decent return in coming quarters, continue to hold for long term
DeleteThank you madam for the update.. we will follow these things
ReplyDeleteVery good mam. I highly appreciate your strategy.mam kindly give your view on ruchi soya. As many good companies made a bid to buy it. Any turn around story ?
ReplyDeleteSorry not tracking it
DeleteIt means for Sintex Plastic stop loss is 43 which few points away from market price. My allocation is 20% with 30 % stop loss. Then 6% of capital is vanished
ReplyDeleteIt is still very far away from 30% stop loss. Need to hold it with full confidence, we are looking to get the best return form it in next two years.
DeleteThanks for SPTL clarification ! I added so yes need to have patience.
DeleteThanks for your guidance. It's one more way that you have demonstrated that you really care for your followers. Hat's off
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review madam
ReplyDeleteThank You Mam for listing out the strategic guidelines.
ReplyDeleteHave a small query on the stoploss mentioned in point #1: Say a stock was recommended at 100 and price corrected by 30% to 70. Should a new investor consider this as a good entry at 70? Or if 30% below recommended levels be considered as a call to avoid this stock forever? Kindly please help clarify.
Sintex seems to be a good stock (and am convinced about its future growth potential) but in the short term it looks it might go to 40 levels (recommended at 60). Was planning to add more (to average) if it touches 40 levels. So, your latest views on Sintex will help in decision making. Kindly please do consider clarifying this.
If stock fundamentally is good and even it may correct 50% from suggested price then we may re-consider to post it on blog again with revised target as mentioned in point # 6
DeleteIn any case our stop loss of 30% will remain active. So either you can hold it with full confidence or exit it with full confidence.
Sure Mam. So, 30% stop loss is for those who doubt the future prospects of the company despite the sound analysis we do before investing. Pls correct me.
DeleteNo it is for every stock and and not related to the prospectors of the company but the negativity of the investors
DeleteThank You Mam,
DeleteThanks a lot for the trouble being taken for we blog members.
ReplyDeleteCan you give a suggestion regarding PFC stock from a long term perspective.the price has gone down markedly
Sorry not tracking it
DeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for sharing ur wisdom mam.. Hope all r well.. I have a question mam.. May I enter Cosmo film at CMP? What is ur view abt Cosmo?
ReplyDeleteYou can enter near 250 with expected return around 10 to 15% per year
DeleteGreetings! What is the best price to enter into ABCAPITAL
ReplyDeleteAt CMP
DeleteMaam can you please analyse and share why some of the recommended post are not doing well even after couple of quarters. ie Jubilant industries Though they got rid of the loss making retail venture the results Q on Q are not encouragingAre the market conditions tough or is the management faltering ?
ReplyDeleteThanks
You can continue to hold free of cost shares long term and if required add more near suggested price. We can expect positive results within next 2 years.
DeleteMadam pls advise me on these scrips.
ReplyDeleteHCL Infosystems, skm egg products, trf and Gati.can gati touch 500 in 2 to 3 yrs time frame.
You can continue to hold Gati for 4 -5 years then you can expect around 300% return
DeleteNot tracking the stocks
Madam when is orient electric going to be listed.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will get listed within next few weeks
Delete"In any case we must be able to reinvest our principal amount again in 3 years. It is not advisable to buy any non-moving stock after 3 years even though it is trading with in buying range. It means that any stock suggestion is valid only for 3 years or it got re-suggested again with modified target."
ReplyDeleteMam so what should we do with DTIL, do we expect it to re-suggested again with modified target?
You can continue to hold free of cost shares for long-term and reinvest your principal amount in any other stock.
DeleteIt will be very rare situation when any stock will get re- suggested on the blog. It may happen only when there is no change in fundamental stock and the price correction more than 50% from previous suggested price.
Mam, any views on Amarjothi Spinning Mills, Trident Ltd, Nahar Industiral Enterprises as they are continuously falling?
ReplyDeleteAll are good stocks, You can continue to hold for long-term but not advisable to buy at CMP
Deletethank you for the above effort. I lucked in omkar / lasa by exiting fully from 250 to 180 in that order. Surana i booked huge loss as i sold at 16 after buying at 27. Always believed that stop loss is the key to survival in this business. I use that method for FO trading. now with blog experience i realise even investments require stops. Great experience with omkar/lasa and surana. Thank you. A lesson well learnt
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to book some partial profit near hundred percent and keep the free of cost share for long-term
DeleteDear Mam,
ReplyDeleteUnderstand Omkar and Surana has brought pain from all the blog readers. What are the lessons we learn, is there any
Way we can avoid such stocks in future. Omkar had aggressive expansion in last 6 years acquiring 4 companies . Do you think over pledging of shares is also an indicator or sales / profit not enough. Pravin being first generation entrepreneur who built the company from scratch and produced valuable LASA, how did he go wrong.Kindly share your thoughts.
It is not the aggressive expansion but it is the negative attitude of the promoters.
DeleteHi Madam, have a question on buying price range. Yes it is understandable when you give a buy call you take all the parameters to come a conclusion on the entry price. But say for example, after a year of recommendation or within the year span the stock gone to to 100%. But for next two years it has legs to go for another 200%-300%. So considering this, can one buy that particular script. May be by time will have your new stocks in the buying range, but my question was specifically to the scenario I am talking. Kindly answer my question to clear my confusion.
ReplyDeleteEven it can go 1000% in next 2 -3 years but still our buying price will remain + /-10% from suggested price. Because our main aim is to protect our investment and if we have bought at much lower price then why it need to jump at higher price again?
DeleteI have given very clear instructions to book the partial profit near hundred percent gain and keep the free of cost share for long-term so how I can give again buy call to the other investors?
Hi Mam I am a new investor, can you please suggest me some stocks for a start ?
ReplyDeleteYou can buy the stocks which are trading below or near to the suggested price
Delete7 Rules are excellent. I should read it regularly so my brain will do it automatically...
ReplyDeleteI am using this blog for past 3 years. I got great confidence and saw real money. I always think that even this blog gets closed, I should be able to find stocks which can give 300% gain in 3- 5 years. Honestly, I couldn't guess any stocks from this blog on my own. So i still need to learn lot. But, I got patience to hold stock for 3 years without fear, which i never had before. I am happy you mentioned this blog will be there next year too.
Thanks for all your help and guidance.
Thanks
Siva
We have seen a lot of negativity on the board and genuine investors were start losing their confidence. To eliminate the negativity and negative people from the board we have taken these steps.
DeleteMam, can we consider Jubilant industries as a fresh investment ?
ReplyDeleteYou can buy it at cmp and give 10 to 20% allocation for long-term investment
DeleteNilesh shah- MD - Kotak AMC on the Indian economy:
ReplyDeleteI will take liberty to point out certain factors. a) The movie Baaghi 2 had a bigger opening collection than Bahubali 2 which was a far grander movie. It shows that urban consumption is growing at a reasonable pace. Sonali Contractor sold 100,000 tractors last year. Mahindra & Mahindra, Escorts are also showing all-time high levels of tractor sales. Clearly, that shows that rural economy is doing well.
Maruti Baleno has a four months’ waiting period. If consumers do not have money, then how come they are waiting for four months to get the car? Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle production is at an all-time high record level. Generally commercial vehicles are pulse of the market, pulse of the economy. If commercial vehicle sales are happening, certainly economy is rebounding.
Cement volume are showing double digit growth. The cement numbers for this quarter has come ahead of expectation. If we see a variety of other FMCG companies like Dabur, Lever and ITC, their commentary is also positive in terms of rural FMCG growth.
Put all these numbers together and you realise that the economy seems to have now rebounded, the momentum is picking up, it is reflected in last four months of IIP numbers which was above 7%. It is reflected in GST collections which have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore for the first time.
Well explained with the fact and actual figures
DeleteThanks Madam for detailed analysis
ReplyDeleteMadam,
ReplyDeleteVery wise and clear cut strategy madam. I highly appreciate and follow this.
When will be next stock published?
ReplyDeleteIt will be in the 3rd or 4th week of May
DeleteMam, unless and untill you give a sell call , i am not going to sell even a single blog suggested stock before 3-5 years. This 30% stop loss is for impatient investors. e.g. i bought nitin spinner at 121 and it correctecd 27% apx due to a sudden mkt correction. But y should i sell it foolishly when i know future growth potential is intact nd i bought for 3 years nd not 3 months. Yes, the only fear i have is, if all the suggested stock will not perform in 3 years then only i will regret my decision ( and i think that ll be a rare thing ). Otherwise i will never regret the decision of investing .1-2 stock in a portfolio not performing is not a big deal if rest performs as per expectations. Yes its a good feeling if everything is in green but v should b prepared for otherwise as well.
ReplyDelete
DeleteIf you are buying the stocks within 10% from suggested price with at least 10% allocation in each stock and able to book the partial profit near 100% and keeping the free of cost stocks for long-term then definitely no need of any stop loss for your portfolio
Big Thank you Mam.. Its so soothing to see ur article when portfolio is going down

DeleteMam When will we get Orient electric shares in our demat?
DeleteIt must be already in your demat account, you can check with your broker for verification
DeleteHi Madam,
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion from my side. Could you also have a specific section in your blog perhaps once or twice in year with good compounding stocks which i think would give stability to once portfolio. I know you reply to queries by saying it will give 15% yearly. But it would be nice if you could take few of them with your deeper analysis. Just a suggestion and only in a year once or twice if possible.
Regards
Shyam
Sure we will try to consider your suggestion in future

ReplyDeleteResults is in line with our expectation. Company has taken several positive steps to re-align the business strategy for future growth, it has also helped to strengthen balance sheet. Company has closed loss making US subsidiary and plant shifted to India , net debt reduction and restructuring of short term debt with long term debt with funding from KKR. We can expect very positive results in coming quarters.

DeleteDear Ma’am,
ReplyDeleteI am a long term holder and believer in both Shree Pushkar and Deepak Nitrite.
Is Crude price at this level starting to act like a hurdle for these companies to reach our returns target ?
Crude oil prices will cool down in coming months and these companies are able to pass the excess price to customer. Even product price itself will go in proportion to the rise in crude oil price.

DeleteMadam pc jewellers buy back shares at 350rs.does this mean that fair value of this price is above RS 350 and today it's price is 205 but very soon will it or has to cross it's buyback price @350.
ReplyDeleteGenerally buy back offer is to reward the existing shareholders of the company and offer price is higher than market price. Offer price depend upon availability of free cash reserve and size of buy back offer. So there is no any relation with fair value of the company

You can continue to hold both stocks as it is for decent gain in future. If current allocation is below 10% then both can add more on cmp or little bit on further correction.
Jubilant industries
ReplyDeleteIs it that promoters seems to be in process of restructuring organisation and appointing for new higher positions is a signal of being closer to start posting positive results?
Yes we can expect positive results in coming quarters
DeleteHello mam

DeleteMadam how abt abfrl result? Cn u guide?
ReplyDeleteResult is good and we can expect further improvement in result in coming quarters
DeleteHi mam,
ReplyDeleteWhen you say in line with expectations, is it debt reduction? 15-20% increase in revenue? reduction in working capital? etc etc.. and even when the you are talking about negative result, you are hopeful that it will post positive result, could you please tell what do you look when you read the results? And is it when you talk to the management they will tell you about future growth and expectations and then when you look at results if it is meeting what they told and you decide if it is on track or off track? Please let us know how to read the results or what you look while analyzing.
Thank you for all the support.
Our expectation is in line with market expectation and it may be positive or negative. For example of Sintex plastic, management has given guidelines in the last year September that year result of FY 2017 - 18 will remain flat due to reduction in prefab revenue, restructuring of debt, restructuring of operation with focus on consumer and customer molding business so we are also expecting muted result from Sintex plastic in the Q4 but we can expect much better result in coming quarters because result of these efforts will start appearing in profitability of the company
DeleteDear Maam,
ReplyDeleteInterest Cost has gone up again for Kesoram?
Can you please help us interpret the results and the outklook for way forward.
Yes interest cost is very high and Management is working on restructuring and fresh capital infusion by issuing Preferential shares. Hopefully we will see some positive outcome in coming quarters
DeleteDear Mrs Dolly,
ReplyDeleteThis is regarding sharp fall in Rain today. Although the results were good but I believe the news regarding a new technology being developed by Alcoa in partnership with others for Aluminium production seems to have spooked the market. However as per the developers this technology is likely to be commercialised by 2024 only. So I believe there is no change in Rains positive story for at least the next few years.
M'am would you kindly share your views regarding Rain.
M'am lots of investors like Nikhil Vora, his private equity fund Sixth sense and now some mutual fund houses have started investing in micro caps even before the ipo is listed and some especially Nikhil Vora have done very well. Although this strategy can be very risky as not much information is available regarding these companies as also liquidity is a big issue here but I am sure marquee investors like you can get this information and evaluate these companies.
M'am would you like to look at some such promising companies and give your views regarding them with a strict warning to the blog followers that these are just emerging stories and so are very risky and only investors who can take the risk and stay invested for a very long term should look at them. You could write about them on the blog as just information and not a recommendation unlike the regular stocks.
M'am some such stocks like payTM , Hindustan foods, just svendgaard etc where investors picked up these stocks even before listing have done extremely well. But then for every micro stock which has done well more number of these have failed too.
M'am if you can find time then please study some of these sme stocks which you find interesting and just put them up as information on the blog.
Will be extremely grateful.
Thanks and warm regards,
Navraj Grewal
Yes you are right, there are some technological developments are going on which can replace several conventional products and process in future. There is some oversupply of pet coke from China but today’s stock price correction is not related with any these news but it is happened because BNP Paribas has sold around 2 million shares @ 277. You can continue to hold it the price will stabilise within few days.
DeleteWe will consider your suggestion on SME stocks
Madam can I accumulate optocircuit at cmp near Rs11.after handsome Q4 results.please advice.
