  32. Hello ma’am, I have a query regarding CAGR. Company can underperform decades even if its historical CAGR appears strong Additionally, when evaluating a company’s stock, how should one interpret and analyze its past CAGR performance, and what role should CAGR play in making long-term investment decisions?

Let’s say a company had a CAGR of around 15–25% over the last 10 years, but in the next 5 years, it doesn’t perform well. Will that make the overall CAGR go down? And how should an investor look at this situation when deciding if the company is still worth investing in!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Recent 2-3 year growth or de-growth trajectory may give some help to make investment decisions.

Yes, over all CAGR go down drastically if company will not perform in last 5 years.

As per SEBI regulations, any change in promoter shareholding—whether an increase or decrease—must be disclosed to the stock exchanges. In the case of Visaka Industries, the promoters increased their stake from 48.42% to 53.24%, yet no disclosure appears to have been made. What could be the possible reasons for this non-compliance?

    Please share your views.

    Thanks

    1. Dear Mr. Baalu,

      With all due respect,

This blog is meant for long-term investors—typically with a minimum horizon of three years. Markets can be unpredictable, and it’s important to remember that equity investing is inherently risky and cyclical. All analysts go through phases where some picks may not perform as expected.

The blog owner has been sharing his insights freely for over a decade and has helped many people identify strong long-term opportunities. His goal has always been to share knowledge, not to guarantee returns. No investor or analyst is right 100% of the time, and evaluating performance based only on a short two-year period may not reflect the full picture.

This blog members learning and growing together on this investing journey. It may be more constructive for all of us to focus on long-term fundamentals rather than highlighting only the recent underperformers. Let’s keep this blog a positive and useful space for everyone.

      Thanks for understanding

  78. Hello Ma’am,

I have been wanting to ask you something genuinely. I feel you should write a book on investing—especially focused on micro-cap to mid-cap stocks. Something that explains how experienced investors like you pick stocks, what parameters you look at, and what an investor must study before building conviction.

Whenever I research any sector or company, I often feel low confidence. I don’t get that pure skill, clarity, or foresight that professionals have. But when you suggest a stock on your blog, it automatically feels trustworthy because you have 30+ years of experience and a portfolio worth billions. That gives confidence.

For example, if you choose Ajanta Soya, there are 10 other edible oil companies in the same sector. But what makes you select Ajanta Soya over the others? Some companies might have good value, low PE/PB, and growth too—so I want to understand what exactly you see that others may miss.

Ma’am, I hope you understand what I’m trying to say. I want to learn the way you think—how you build conviction, how you filter companies, and how you decide which one truly deserves investment. One thing I learnt in market over past years that making 100% is a skill, making above 100% is destiny.

    Warm regards.
